Washington Post: Attacks And Retorts From Obama, McCain Show How They Plan To Take Aim At Lobbyist Influence
- fenner,,,, Speaking of Iran/Contra, another reason I''ll never support McBush - Many of those involved are still involved in spinning intel for the White House
One of McBush''s fund raisers was involved in providing millions of dollars for Nicaraguan rebel groups, according to lawyers with knowledge of of the inquiry.
Republicans have a habit of wrapping themselves in our flag while they are hurting our national security.
Mr. Channell is the president of the National Endowment for the Preservation of Liberty, a group that has come under intense scrutiny for its efforts to raise millions for the contra supply effort. Mr. Channell worked closely with Lieut. Col. Oliver L. North, the National Security Council aide who was dismissed in the wake of the Iran-contra

- fenner,,,, I guess you could call me a Reagan democrat, since I helped him run for governor... I switched parties in 1999 to democrat --- But I will never forget the damage his Iran Contra did to our country.
Ann Coulter is a basket case.. She called Obama the "Manchurian Canidate" ----- The "Manchurian Canidate" was a story about an American POW captured by the Communist Chinese & brainwashed.
The "Manchurian Canidate" is McBush -- All the way to his foreign & trade policies with China - Reply to this comment
- Folks,
My grandfather used to tell me "I never blame the person who robbed the bank, I blame the bank for little security"
Fact: 21% of Americans over the age of 18 are registered to vote. In a General Election, 48% to 52% of registered Americans actually vote. Therefore, 11% of Americans decide our leaders.
In this Lobby matter, I blame only Americans for sleeping and letting Lobbyist take over. - Reply to this comment

Bernie, you''re missing the point. Indeed we can all give to candidates (up to a point) or to a party (all we want) and that does, in theory, give that individual donor a voice.
In reality, huge corporations or wealthy individuals give vast sums of cash and gifts to candidates or parties for the express purpose of securing influence for ideas which are CONTRARY TO THE PUBLIC INTEREST.
It all amounts to giving more attention to a narrow ideology than is proportionally reasonable based on the sheer number of voters who will be hurt by or gain from it. More $$$ should not equal greater representation. If you still have questions, please consult an encyclopedia on the definition of "representative democracy" - Reply to this comment
- ""fenner,,,, Did you ever notice, McBush was far from the 1st pick of the GOP to run ???"
Posted by j-whitman at 01:30 PM : May 20, 2008" ***** Here in TN, "ground zero bible belt", almost every Republican I''ve spoken to said they really don''t like McCain. They would gladly vote for Huckabee or Alan Keyes, but that''s about it. They had their hopes up for a theocracy, thought they''d get that under W, and are pretty ticked off that he didn''t deliver. I suspect most of them will stay home. - Reply to this comment
- "Candidates Vie To Be The Anti-Lobbyist"
****************************************************
This is probably the funniest CBS headline I''ve ever seen.
John McCain''s ENTIRE candidacy is derived from special lobbyists. He doesn''t say a word unless its scripted by some special interest speech writer.
Make NO mistake about it, folks: There''s only one change candidate in this election, and his name is Barack. - Reply to this comment

- both are talking the same old, same old washington rhetoric.(all about themselves.) he said, he said, i said, i said.
nothing is being argued about the poor losing their home or shelter, not having enough food to eat, no health care, loss of job, or about the people fortunate enough to still have a vehicle, mccain or obama aren''t bickering about how the "VOTER" will put gasoline in that vehicle.
these are the problems facing us the "VOTER" TODAY may 20, 2008, YESTERDAY may 19, 2008 and TOMORROW may 21, 2008 and on. enough about november, enough about the lobbyists, enough about campaign finance reform.
mccain - obama, what have you done? and what are you doing TODAY to address these very serious problems facing us, the VOTER? - Reply to this comment
- Obama takes oil money. Not from the corporations but from the CEOs and their wifes. Nice little loop hole isn''''t it.

- "It''''ll never work. They''''ll have to pull out all the stops (eVote rigging, push-polling, fake registration-drives, racism-fomenting, etc.) just to get a state or two. " ******* I''d bet money we''ll see exactly that. But, as you stated, most Republicans I know are either going to stay at home or write in Huckabee. Surprised this doesn''t make the news more.

- Loosen the reins, deregulate and let the government/corporations steal, steal, steal. Then tighten the reins, spit out the line "we''re stopping the corruption" and tax, tax, tax. Then loosen the reins, and tighten them and loosen them. No one goes to jail, no one even gets charged, we''re lucky when we hear about it.

LOL no kidding! The Republican overlords tried their best to push Giuliani on their herd, and he stank to high heaven. Huckabee was a close second, and he flamed out too.
They''re left with a 3rd string choice at best, a guy they already "swift-boated" in the Bush campaign, severely wounded and bleeding out quickly.
It''ll never work. They''ll have to pull out all the stops (eVote rigging, push-polling, fake registration-drives, racism-fomenting, etc.) just to get a state or two. - Reply to this comment
- "John McBush....the best President money can buy." ****** Give McCain a little slack, he''s having a serious identity crisis lately. First he says (understandably) that he''s anti-torture, but then he votes for torture. Then he says he''s a "war hero" ad nauseum, but votes against veterans benefits. He claims to be a "maverick" (and the compliant media parrots him), yet his voting record, support for the Bush''s failed foreign policies and recent statements about appointing conservative activist judges make it obvious that he''s just as much a neocon as the others. He opposed Bush''s tax cuts for the wealthy, but changed his tune when they agreed to support his nomination. Flip flopper? Definitely. Senile? Since he apparently needs Joe Lieberman there to correct his ignorance of foreign policy, apparently so. Identity crisis? Without a doubt!

First McBush says lobbyists have no influence in his campaign. Then it comes out that several of his top advisers are, in fact, career lobbyists. Now McBush is making a show of pretending to separate himself from his lobbyist buddies.

You''re kidding..right Tiger Woods''s mother is Asian, his wife is White and not American so the bigots would go crazy, Bill Cosby has been sued by several women for sexual harrasment so female voters would be offended, Colin Powell''s wife has had some mental issues in the past so he''s out.- Reply to this comment
