Bush Threatens To Veto The $300 B Plan That Would Provide Cheaper Mortgages To Americans Facing Foreclosure
- I''d like to see some evidence that the borrowers were actually "irresponsible" rather than their situation changed due to falling relative wages, layoffs, and irresponsible stewardship of our economy.

- "I really RESENT those people who are calling people IRRESPONSIBLE! Basically you are calling my husband and I that! We are currently in foreclosure status because of a PREDATORY LENDING SCAM! We DID NOT live recklessly or over our heads! Is it our fault that my husband has been out of work because the financial field sucks right now! I WILL BACK THIS PLAN - PLAIN AND SIMPLE! "...Garnet08
And we all sympathize with you. But this does not entitle you or anyone who was truly irresponsible to use taxpayer money to bail you out. - Reply to this comment

- Thank goodness I bought a less expensive house so I can afford to pay taxes to bail out my neighbors who bought a house neither they nor I could afford.
Together we can make the American dream come true for even the most irresponsible people--by sacrificing the American dream for ourselves! - Reply to this comment

Be prepared for singingrick to call you a "heartless moron" for having that opinion. Certainly that was what I was called. - Reply to this comment
- Well, I think it is just great that there is a plan to bail out lenders who financed mortgages they knew the buyers couldn''t afford. They also just knew in their hearts they could sell the mortgage, they wouldn''t be the one left holding the paper. Except, Oops, with the meltdown, there are a lot of lenders out there holding paper on houses that buyers can''t pay for. I am also sorry for the folks who financed houses they couldn''t really afford so they could live like they wanted in a piece of the American dream. Surely we should salvage that for them.
While we are at it, is there someone out there who would like to give my house a make over? I bought a post WWII 22 years ago. But as a single parent I couldn''t really fix it up and keep it up as I would have liked. Five years ago, I moved out of it so that my daugher''s family would have a roof over their heads. I''m in a low income apartment. However, my daughter and her husband have both been in school and have school loans to pay back. The house is in dire need of a lot of things. It could use new flooring throughout. New kitchen cabinets and new appliances, new wiring, new paint inside and out, new landscaping, new fences, new cement work in the driveway and of course, a new bathroom. It shouldn''t cost more than about $50,000 dollars which is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the "Fix," that this housing bail out would cost. So, throw a little of it my way. - Reply to this comment
