N.Y. Rep. Vito Fossella, Who Was Arrested For Drunk Driving Last Week, Says He Has A 3-Year-Old Daughter With Woman In Va.
- walker1209....I think the point you are missing here is that while it is true that anyone can make a mistake, and we all do, the republican party beats us over the head with their "family values" and "party of morals". I have had republicans on these blogs call me terrible names because the perceive me as a "liberal". It''s as though that was a filthy dirty word. There''s an old saying about people who live in glass houses and it seems the republicans want to tell us one thing and do something completely different inside their "glass houses". I do mean to imply that democrats are lilly white. They aren''t and when one of them screws up they should be held to the standards that we expect of them. But it should go both ways.

More, "it''s all about me", morals from the self righteous, self serving republican party. How anyone can hold their head up and say, "I am a republican" these days is beyond me. - Reply to this comment
- Parrot: You left out the "Diaper Dandy" David Vitter.

- The Republican party should be very angry! How could he have slept with a woman? Doesn''t he know he is a member of the GAY party?

This coming from a Repug - from the party that gave us Allen, Ney, Cunningham, Delay, Ravenel, Doolittle, Miller, Lewis, Renzi, Kott, Kohring, Vitter, Stevens, Foley, Libby, Norton, Foggo, Ted Haggard, Craig, Rosenthal, Richard Curtis, Bernard Kerik, Fred Thompson, Phillip Martin, Billy O''Reilly, Rush L, Newt G, Mark Sijander, Murkowski, Jim Clark, Goeglein, Sixto, A Jackson, Zirkle, C J Ward, Ullman and now Vito Fossella. You really should be ashamed of yourself. Cheers! - Reply to this comment
- Maybe Don Vito should have been more careful about birth control with his bimbo. But hot headed Italians like spice and variety in their *** lives, not matter what costs are involved. No excuse on the drunk driving. Should have had one of his personal assistants drive him home.

- I think Vito should get the banana award. That is the award given to people that most act like monkeys.

- To the Republican "family values" and "law and order" crew: You were "all over" Elliot Spitzer to "do the right thing" but have lost your voice when it comes to this clown or David Vitter or Larry "Widestance" Craig. You all are hypocrites via your present silence!

- I DO GET IT!!! How the hell does what another person do impact on our ability to do what is right? We are all supposed to do the right thing regardless of who is watching!! If we don''t, then we have to suffer the consequences. What he has done will probably cost him his job and a lot more; that is the price he will pay for his indescritions. I am just tired of a bunch of sactimonious people piling on. We all screw up, its just that most of us don''t do it in public.

- "Ah but a VERIFIED RED GOPer...is a RINO.. "
RED GOPer''s are really just Reagan Democrats. Real GOP/Conservatives are guys like Barry Goldwater and William F. Buckley. The rest are only GREAT pretenders.
REDREPUBs like Vito can be found consistently voting for ballooning the budget, reckless use of the military for preemptive invasion/occupation, expanding BIG government, hidden tax increases on middle class and poor, voting against the best interests of American soldiers & American defense, ignoring NYC & New Orleans after major disasters. These all go against true Republican values.
The only real "non-RINO" left standing in our federal government is Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. - Reply to this comment
- "The arrest prompted questions about whether the daughter he told police he was going to see was his child with another woman." Why was this even brought up? What does this have to do with drinking and driving?

Awesome show of ignorance there. Not surprising, though...mbcsmith is, after all a Bush apologist. The two conditions seem to go hand-in-hand. - Reply to this comment
- Mark Foley resigned. Cunningham resigned.
Let''''s look at the Dems: Detroit Mayor....fighting. House Rep who last year slapped a security guard....fought and played the race card. Jefferson down in Louisianna.....fighting that he took bribes and put them in his freezer. Barney Frank....still going! Garry Studs...remember him...didnt just text a page...actually had an affair with a congressional page.....he stayed in office and was applauded by the democrat leadership when he left.
Fact is...some fight, some resign. No party has a monopoly on scum-bags. But some seem to have a problem with recognizing it within their own party...

Try READING the story: "blah, blah, blah... said Fossella, who has three children with his wife in Staten Island." - Reply to this comment
- "this is really not newsworthy!!! ... He is human and has human frailties; unlike some people I don''t expect politicians to be any different from anyone else" - walker1209
Nice sentiment, but the reason it IS newsworthy is because the GOP has made a point to pretend to be the champion of the "Christians"-- so successfully that over 90 percent of the evangelicals in this country voted for Bush to lead them all into Armageddon!
As long as the GOP pretends to represent "family values", it is very definitely going to be newsworthy when one of theirs gets caught, revealing the hypocrisy. - Reply to this comment
