DeVito reacts to Chris Rock Oscar animation quip

(CBS News) At the Academy Awards Sunday night, Chris Rock said it's not hard to be a voice actor, you just go into a booth and say the lines and then get paid $1 million.

But is that all there is to it? Not according to Danny DeVito.

DeVito plays the voice of the Lorax in the film version of the classic story by Dr. Seuss. In the story, a 12-year-old boy searches for a tree -- the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams.

In response to Rock's comments, DeVito said on "CBS This Morning," "The thing is you can phone anything in. You can go into a booth and just do it like, 'Hey, go away from that tree' or whatever. But if you really work on it as an actor, you know, you can -- I bring all kinds of nuances. When you see this movie, you're going to see a hell of a performance here. Not only me."

DeVito stars with Betty White, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, and others. "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" opens in theaters Friday.
