Possible blizzard heading to Northeast
(CBS News) Blizzard conditions could be possible by Friday, in the Northeast. A storm has begun to take shape, giving a sense of what its potential could be.
Radar Wednesday morning showed there were several light snow showers in Boston overnight, but this has nothing to do with the big storm that's likely going to develop on Friday by the New England coastline, David Bernard, chief meteorologist for CBS Miami station WFOR-TV, reports.
The worst weather on Friday morning going into early Saturday morning will likely be in northern New Jersey, the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, and stretching across much of New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and southern Maine. That area could be facing heavy and excessive snow.
The greatest chance of crippling blizzard conditions are in eastern Long Island, eastern Connecticut and southeastern New England. Coastal flooding may also be a concern.
Some of these areas were already under storm watches Wednesday morning. Boston is under a winter storm watch, as is southern New Hampshire, including Manchester, and as far north as Portland, Maine.
These watches and warnings are likely to expand. The I-95 corridor needs to be ready for major disruptions going into the end of the week.
