Michael Urie on "the final frontier" of sitcom relationships

(CBS news) Michael Urie costars in the new CBS comedy "Partners" and this morning, he joined the table at "CBS This Morning" to talk about the upcoming show and what it means to play a gay character in the post-"Will and Grace" era.

"The show is about a straight guy and a gay guy, who are lifelong best friends. And now they are business partners," Urie -- who previously starred in "Ugly Betty" -- said of the show.

The show is based on the real-life relationship between show creators, David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, the creative force behind "Will and Grace."

"They have an amazing relationship, very funny. They love each other, they bicker," Urie said of Kohan and Mutchnick.

Urie also joked with "CTM" co-host, Charlie Rose about the differences in friendships between men and women.

"Since 'Will and Grace,' a lot has happened ... the final frontier can be the relationship between the straight guy and the gay guy," Urie said.
