That figure includes the cost of legal fees, consultants, and public relations firms. The paper reports the figure does not include all costs related to the case, such as undisclosed settlements reached with the late celebrity football coach Joe Paterno who was fired and former Penn State president Graham Spanier who resigned as the university scandal reached its height in November. The university has said the money will not come from tuition, taxpayer money or donor gifts.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Jerry Sandusky's sex abuse trial. The former Penn State assistant football coach is accused of 52 counts of sexual abuse of 10 boys over a 15-year period.
