Focus on wooing evangelical voters in S.C.

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman is expected to drop out of the Republican presidential race Monday and throw his support behind frontrunner Mitt Romney, but his exit will likely have little impact on the contest, reports Jan Crawford.

Instead, as the race heads to South Carolina, candidates are focused on wooing evangelical voters.

That vote is divided in South Carolina between Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum, but over the weekend, more than 100 Christian conservative leaders met in Texas and made a pact: Santorum was their man.

Gingrich tried to downplay the endorsement, arguing that he got a third of the evangelical vote on the conference's first ballot.

And Perry has been making an even more direct appeal, comparing himself to a Biblical prophet.

"Moses, he tried to talk God out of making him go lead the people. He wasn't a good public speaker. From time to time, I can relate to that," he told supporters.

But all three have had their missteps and Romney is still leading in the latest South Carolina polls.
