Perfumania Holdings sales rise 6.4 percent in Feb.

BELLPORT, N.Y. — Perfume and fragrance retailer Perfumania Holdings Inc. said Thursday that its revenue at stores open at least a year rose 6.4 percent in February from the previous year.

Revenue at stores open at least a year is considered a key measurement of retailer health because they exclude results from stores that opened or closed within the past year.

The company said its net revenue grew 4.2 percent to $20.2 million over the four weeks that ended Feb. 25 even though it closed 16 stores. The specialty fragrance retailer ran 340 stores in the latest period, down from 356 a year ago.

In December, the company agreed to acquire fragrance and beauty products maker Parlux Fragrances Inc. in a deal valued at $170 million.

Perfumania shares fell 16 cents to $9.92 in morning trading.
