Shelby releases doctored photos for new Mustang

/ Shelby(CBS) - In preparation for the New York Auto Show next week, popular car customizing company Shelby released photographs of their new custom Mustang, the Shelby 1000. The new model reportedly has 950-horsepower, which according to the photos was enough to lift the car off the ground. The picture above is the image released by Shelby. But it turns out that image in not real.
Shelby admitted Tuesday that images released by the company were doctored to imply that the new Mustang could lift off the ground. USA Today were the first to realize the improbable photos were more than they seemed. On their auto blog "Drive On" they write:
A photo editor questioned how the Mustang could lift off the ground, given its weight and that it has only street tires. Also, the tires in the photo do not appear to be under stress. A close examination revealed photo manipulation techniques under the wheels.
Shelby American acknowledged that the images were doctored. Scott Black, a spokesperson for the company, told USA Today, "That is a fake shot. The shot is not real. I am beyond embarrassed."
