Weird real estate: Oddly shaped houses
(Zillow)
Ranch-style, duplex, condo, split-level: these are all standard terms used to describe the general style and shape of a home. Those types of home are nice, but people looking for something different should look no further than these oddly shaped houses, courtesy of my friends over at the Zillow Blog.
- Shape: Rectangle
- Address: 8250 Sanderling Rd, Sarasota, FL 34242
- Listing Price: $14,500,000
What if the Ikea and Apple stores had a real estate love child? You'd probably get something like the home pictured above. Described on the Zillow website as a property that "turns abstract art into concrete reality," this living space is definitely not for the vanilla.
The five bedroom, five and a half bath home has 7,652 feet of interior living space. Kids and adults will love this funky estate -- in addition to the playful colors and massive living space, the house boasts a large swimming pool with a slide. Adults may take refuge in the outsized Jacuzzi and exterior fire pit.

- Shape: Circle
- Address: 17600 E Purple Sage Trl, Dewey, AZ, 86327
- Listing Price: $185,000
This affordable home looks like a giant brown egg dropped in the middle of the desert, but you have to admit it's pretty charming. The price tag is not too hefty either.
Measuring a rather large 2,462 square feet, this dome-shaped living space in Arizona is priced to match the number of real estate challenges in the state. According to Zillow, the asking price has dropped a considerable 43.9 percent in recent months. For the discount, you get three bedrooms, three bathrooms and the full attention of passerby.

- Shape: Parallelogram
- Address: 219 Ocean Blvd, Golden Beach, FL 33160
- Listing Price: $13,500,000
This uniquely shaped residence might set you back a bit, but look what you get for the price. This gigantic mansion sports almost 7,800 square feet of living space right on the Florida coast. The lucky new homeowner has access to a private beach sitting outside their door.
Other interesting features in the standout home include a floating staircase and a glass-enclosed suspended second floor bridge. The entire place is an eye-popping conversation piece. With five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, there's plenty of room to entertain guests who want to flee the impending Midwest and Eastern winters for a little sunshine -- in style.
