Travel Roundup: More US Airways Fees, Royal Caribbean Cancels Cruises, United-FedEx Partnership and More
(MoneyWatch) US Airways to charge for blankets, pillows -- US Airways will soon be charging passengers $7 for pillows and blankets. Previously, US Airways began charging customers for soft drinks during flights. So far, the airline has given no date for the new surcharge.[Source: Charlotte Observer]
Royal Caribbean cancels South American cruises -- Royal Caribbean announced it will cancel its South American cruises for 2009 and 2010. It will be keeping the Radiance of the Seas in San Diego and adding 24 additional Mexican Riviera cruises. [Source: Cruise Log]
United partners with FedEx -- United Airlines is partnering with FedEx to ship suitcases, golf clubs and other items door-to-door instead of cargo on a passenger plane. The service will be offered in the continental United States only and start at $149 one-way for an item up to 50 pounds and traveling less than 1,000 miles. Overnight delivery is guaranteed. Southwest begins Tulsa-Denver flights -- Southwest Airlines began offering two daily, nonstop flights from Tulsa International Airport to Denver on Sunday. The flights will help make up for the three daily flights offered by Frontier Airlines before it declared bankruptcy and left the airport in June. [Source: Tulsa World]
