10 best holiday coupon offers

Didn't shop on Black Friday or even Cyber Monday? You haven't missed out on all of the best bargains. According to Coupon Sherpa, a number of retailers are offering mouthwatering coupons for online shoppers throughout the month of December.

The site has picked its top 10 deals, but there are plenty of others listed on its holiday coupon site, including a half-off coupon for JoS. A. Bank stores that's only good today and tomorrow (Dec. 5 and 6), which may be why it didn't make the top 10 listing.

If you prefer to shop in person, a number of retailers, including The Limited and Joann's Fabrics, offer printable coupons for 20% to 30% off.

Beware, however, of free shipping deals that cause you to overspend. An increasing number of retailers are offering free shipping deals only to those who drop a bundle this year. Bed, Bath & Beyond, for example, advertises free shipping, but it's only if you spend $99 or more. 

In addition, consumer advocates stress that you should understand return policies before you shop. If your gift isn't well-received, some retailers simply won't take it back after the holidays because their polices only give buyers 14 days to return or exchange. Others, particularly those selling electronics, charge steep "restocking" fees that could make for some seriously unhappy returns.

Great tips! Another good strategy for saving during the holidays (and avoiding those annoying "mega sale" days) is to bargain shop on-line year round!
