Save Money on Microsoft Office: Use One Copy on Two PCs

Microsoft Office isn't cheap, but it's a necessary business tool for, well, almost everyone. That's why we thought you might appreciate this reminder: You can legally use most editions of Microsoft Office on two PCs.

This has been a long-standing rule for previous editions of Office, and it continues to be true for Office 2010. The Home and Student edition of Office is the lone exception -- it's designed to be used on up to three home PCs for non-commercial purposes. But if you have Home and Business or Professional, you are permitted to install it on two PCs: a desktop and a laptop.

The license agreement says this:

You may install another copy of the software on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

So there you have it. Now spend the money you saved not buying that second copy of Office on something nice for yourself. [via neowin.net]
