Turbocharge Firefox with Google Toolbar 5

By
Rick Broida
Believe it or not, Internet Explorer users have long enjoyed a better version of Google Toolbar than Firefox users. But now Google Toolbar 5 is available for Firefox, bringing with it such amenities as Google Notebook integration, synchronization across multiple PCs, and multiple AutoFill profiles.

The one-minute video up top gives you a (very) quick overview, but the highlights are as follows:
  • You can "clip" Web contents to your Google Notebook just by clicking a button in the toolbar.
  • You can access Google Gadgets directly from the toolbar.
  • If you use multiple PCs, you can synchronize your Google Toolbar settings, bookmarks, and custom buttons so they appear on each system.
  • The improved AutoFill lets you set up multiple profiles -- great if you need, say, business information for some forms and personal info for others.
All this piles on top of Google Toolbar's myriad other features. Google Toolbar 5 is currently in beta, but it seems pretty stable to me. It's free, of course, and it requires Firefox 2 or later. [via Google Operating System]
