Start a Number Crunching Competition | BTalk
(Episode 485; 15 minutes 39) Most businesses create a mass of internal data that could be used to predict future outcomes. The question is, are you using it to its best advantage? You might do some data modelling, but the reliability rests on assumptions you have made and how the model is constructed.
Kaggle.com is a new web portal where you can submit your data and have a number of statisticians develop predictive models for your business. You offer a prize to the best submission so, in other words, you only pay for what works.
It's an interesting concept isn't it? On today's BTalk you'll hear from the founder of Kaggle, Anthony Goldbloom. I ask him whether he thinks this is an example of how more professional services will be offered in the future.
