Fingerprinting, of course, has been around for a long time and face recognition is becoming more popular at our airports. Now we're starting to see the technology used in the commercial world, for identifying customers or giving employees access to corporate networks.

Fujitsu is one of a number of companies now integrating these technologies into company systems. Dr Alex Bazin is their Head of Biometrics. I caught up with him during a visit to Australia this week to find out what sort of applications are the most viable for companies interesting in using biometrics.

A while back one man in Japan used the galatin in a Gummi Bears packet to create a mould of a fake finger that could fool fingerprint readers. So has the technology moved on since then and just how secure is biometric identification?
