Kappos One Step Closer to Heading USPTO

By
Erik Sherman
(MoneyWatch)  Former IBM top IP lawyer David Kappos is officially one step closer to becoming the head of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. According to the U.S. Senate's executive calendar for tomorrow (and thanks to Foley & Lardner partner Hal Wegner for passing this on), the Kappos nomination has become item 415 for the full Senate, which means that the Judiciary Committee has given him the thumbs up. No big surprise there, and it would be pretty unlikely that the Kappos nomination would face any significant problem at this point.
