Laughing Matters: This Week's Five Funniest Media Stories

By
Catharine P. Taylor
(MoneyWatch)  Occasionally here at BNET, we look at the media news and just have to laugh. And so, here's another installment of the five funniest media stories of the week.
  1. Instead of having arguments behind closed doors, some couples think the best thing to do is have it out in the very public forum of Facebook. The term "oversharing" comes to mind.
  2. Speaking of which, a story in The Daily Beast explains why Facebook will be huge in India -- and it's not just because it has lots of people. Says one Indian professor quoted in the story: "It allows [Indians] to do two things they love: Tell everyone what they are doing; and stick their noses into other people's business."
  3. Fake Steve Jobs (aka Dan Lyons) is pairing with "Seinfeld" writer Larry Charles to create a half-hour comedy that expands on Lyons' original -- and brilliant -- premise. Called iCON, it will make fun of all of Silicon Valley, instead of just one guy who can't seem to expand his wardrobe options beyond a black turtleneck and a pair of jeans.
  4. A GQ writer attends the upfront presentation about the upcoming TV schedule for Syfy (formerly known as the Sci-Fi channel), and hilarity ensues. As he explains: "Tuesday night, journalists, geeks, and journalists who are geeks came together at the Museum of Modern Art to watch some unaired episodes of the SyFy show Caprica, which is methadone for people who need more Battlestar Galactic."
  5. And finally, Jon Stewart perfects his Glenn Beck impersonation (pictured above).
Have a good weekend.
