ASME Asks: Who's the Prettiest Obama Cover of Them All?
(MoneyWatch)
There's nothing new about the Association of Magazine Editors having a cover competition; but there is something new about the organization carving out an entire category solely devoted to President Obama. (Something tells me it's not even worth doing the research on whether such a category was ever created for Dubya.) Then again, when one considers how many Obama covers there have been in the last year or so, it makes a certain kind of sense to put covers of the president in a category all their own, alongside run-of-the-mill categories such as sports and fitness, health and beauty, and house and home. When I Googled "Obama Time cover" I immediately got the four images above back, including what will probably be a frontunner in the competition: the second one from the right.
As an aside, Amazon is using ASME's cover competition to enhance its reputation as the online company that has a warm spot in its techno-heart for print. The competition is being hosted at Amazon.com where visitors can vote for the first time -- but only after the print media elite has actually picked the finalists.
