Continental's Biofuel Test Results are Good

By
Brett Snyder
(MoneyWatch)  Another day, another biofuel test. Once again, the results are good. This time it was Continental releasing the results of the test on a 737.

You'll remember earlier this month when I mentioned that Air New Zealand saw fuel burn drop 1.2 percent with its 50/50 blend of jatropha and jet fuel. Well, Continental saw fuel efficiency increase by 1.1 percent, a very similar result.

Continental also used a 50/50 blend, but instead of pure jatropha, they used jatropha and algae for the "bio" part of the biofuel. This really does continue to show promise for the future. While we don't have enough algae and jatropha to power our needs right now, we're at least moving in the right direction.
