What I Missed at US Airways Media Day
(MoneyWatch) Media Day at US Airways is one of my favorite events. Why? Because this is one of the few airlines that actually considers bloggers to be media, and it's always an interesting session. But alas, I was given the opportunity to meet Southwest founder Herb Kelleher on the very same day, and that was impossible to turn down. So what did I miss at Media Day?
- Holly at PlaneBuzz gives a good summary of what happened over the last couple days.
- Jared over at Online Travel Review gives the rundown on ancillary revenue generation. Looks like they may pull in $300 million in bag fees and that's with passengers checking 10 percent less than they used to.
- Evan Sparks does what he does best by focusing on the regulatory aspects of the discussion. Evan talks about CEO Doug Parker's opening remarks, the airline's plea for the government to make things better and not worse, and he has an interesting look at the airline's stance on perimeter rules at New York/LaGuardia and Washington/National. You might be surprised to find out that they aren't demanding the rules be repealed.
- Scott at The Middle Seat Terminal writes about the behind-the-scenes look at what happened with US Airways 1549, the one that landed in the Hudson.
