Boeing and IAM Reach Tentative Agreement
(MoneyWatch) Good news from the Pacific Northwest. It appears that Boeing and its machinists have reached a tentative agreement to get them working again. Ratification by the membership will happen within a week. If approved, the nearly two month strike will come to an end immediately.
The strike was primarily about the cost of employee benefits along with wage and pension concerns. The union is unanimously supporting the agreement, so I'd say it has a good chance of passing. The big question now is what this means for the 787 production line. We'll know more over time.
For those who are interested in the details and want to keep track of what this means for the 787 program, there is no better place to go than FlightBlogger. Jon Ostrower does a fantastic job of breaking 787 news before anyone else.
