Air Force Reserve Pulls Ad After White Stripes Allege Music Used Without Permission [UPDATED]
(MoneyWatch) UPDATE: The musician behind the Air Force ad song apologizes, says similarity is "coincidental."
The Air Force Reserve appears to have removed from its Super Bowl commercial from its web site following The White Stripes' accusation that the spot ripped off their hit, "Fell in Love With a Girl" (video below).
In a statement on their web site, The White Stripes said:

We believe our song was re-recorded and used without permission of The White Stripes, our publishers, label or management.
... We have not licensed this song to the Air Force Reserve and we plan to take strong action to stop the ad containing the music.The Stripes provided a link to the AFR's web page, but the site contains no version of the ad. Google cache, however, indicates that the ad was once on the AFR's site. It said:
The Air Force Reserve joins the excitement of Super Bowl Sunday with a "Grab Some Air" commercial spot. The spot features the high-octane thrills of action sports at its best. This is sure to capture the interest of even the most enthusiastic sports fan. Be on the lookout for airings in the following areas:It's not clear who the current ad agency for the AFR is. At one time, the account was with Blaine Warren.
