Y&R's Peter Georgescu Is Now an Art Muse and Mystery
(MoneyWatch)
Former Young & Rubicam CEO Peter Georgescu has found a new life -- as an artist's muse.
Georgescu is best known as the man who took Y&R public, triggering an exodus of newly rich managers and leaving Y&R a shell of its former self.
But for New York University art student Danielle Baskin, Georgescu is a source of artistic inspiration and an enduring mystery.
Seeking a topic to paint, she googled "peter old man" one day and the search engine returned an image of Georgescu. (Ouch!)
Baskin then painted a portrait of Georgescu (pictured) and, in a situationist provocation, hung it in the hallway of Tisch, the NYU art school. It stayed there for three weeks until someone took it down.
Now Baskin wants to know where her painting is.
You can see photos of the picture, Baskin in a work-in-progress, and the Tisch stunt here.
