- Fitch Ratings warned Wednesday that a potential global recession spanning into 2010 could lead to a media advertising decline on par with that of 2001. In the 2001 ad recession, the worst since 1970, ads fell 6 percent to 9 percent due to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
- Lowe's in November unveiled an integrated seasonal campaign dubbed simply, "Let's Holiday." The tagline appears amidst blue snowflake graphics on stanchions signs, aisle violators and gift card floorstands in the seasonal department and headers on gift card displays near checkout. The holiday campaign also includes TV spots developed by BBDO, New York, as well as features in November and December circulars.
- Virgin Media has consolidated its ?£41 million above-the-line business into Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R. The account was previously split between Rapier and RKCR/Y&R.
- Sportswear brand Warrior Sports has named JWT Team Detroit as its agency of record.
- Wal-Mart Stores is reviewing the $40 million-plus digital-advertising account for its flagship chain amid a significant push into social media for the world's largest retailer. Five shops being eyed.
