Nordstrom Plans Store Events to Celebrate Twilight Film, Merchandise
(MoneyWatch) Just as its less polished cousins Wal-Mart and Hot Topic have done, Nordstrom is planning a series of events as part of a major Twilight promotion, this supporting sales of exclusive apparel and jewelry that will launch in connection with the next cinematic installment of the teen vampire epic.
"We are going to be doing some special events when we launch the products and when the film launches, both in store and some in theaters," said Pamela Parret, a Nordstrom spokesperson, although she wouldn't provide detail of the actual happenings this far in advance.
The apparel and jewelry lines in Nordstrom are exclusive to the department store chain, but the company hasn't cornered the market on things Twilight. The exclusive covers the actual styles in the collections to be launched in Nordstrom stores on Oct. 15, a little more than a month before the Nov. 20 release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The apparel and jewelry lines will launch initially online on Oct. 1 and be featured on a microsite, nordstrom.com/newmoon. While it doesn't yet offer product, the site already is active and includes the movie preview and wallpaper downloads.
The apparel collection from Awake, Inc., focuses on fitted screened t-shirts, tanks and hoodies styled to reflect the mood of the film, Nordstrom stated. Fans can express their affinity for vampire Edward Cullen with a Team Edward logo shirt or werewolf Jacob Black with a Team Jacob logo top. Other t-shirts feature film lines including "Bet You Can't Read My Mind" and imagery such as Forks High School Phys. Ed. Dept. Plaid tunics and jackets inspired by looks and locations the film has popularized round out the apparel collection, which comes in a price range from $32 for a t-shirt to $58 for a jacket.
The silver and gold-plated jewelry collection developed by Nordstrom includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings and key fobs, not to mention I love Edward and I love Jacob heart pendant chains.
