NCI Continues Strong Growth But Fails To Move Beyond The Government
(MoneyWatch) Back in November we wrote about NCI and their earnings statement for the third quarter as a way to illustrate how hard it is for defense contractors to grow their business into the commercial sector. Now the company has released at Marketwatch.com its results for the fourth quarter and 2008. In the third quarter only three percent of their business was non-government. Unfortunately in the fourth quarter this fell to only one percent. Sales, revenues and profits, though, did increase. Revenues increased $86 million, or twenty-eight percent for the year compared to 2007. Actually with the overall downturn in the economy it probably makes sense for the company to focus on its government customers while trying to do a little diversification.
