Marinette Marine Protest of USCG Contract Denied by GAO
(MoneyWatch) The Department of Homeland Security's Coast Guard had awarded a contract for new patrol boats to Bollinger. Marinette Marine protested this award in October of last year. The Navy Times reports that the GAO upheld the award to Bollinger. With the end of the protest the stop work order that is required will be lifted. An article about the original protest is here at DefenseProcurementNews.com. If all options on the contract are executed Bollinger could build 34 ships worth about $1.5 billion. Marinette Marine believed that Bollinger's issues with the Deepwater program to modify existing ships by inserting a plug into them and lengthening the ship should have been taken into account with this award.
