Government Roundup: Czech Republic Buys Finance System, Navy Gets Hospital for Guam
(MoneyWatch) In a move to further integrate with the European Union the Czech Republic purchased from IBM a financial system that includes hardware and software. As the LoHud.com website reports this system is already used by several European Union members and will facilitate efficiency and transparency in the Czech tax system. The contract has a value of over $100 million. The system will also be used to help with budget preparation and tracking.
The U.S. Navy awarded a contract to Alabama based Sherlock, Smith and Adams to provide design services for a new hospital to be built on Guam for the U.S. military. The Montgomery Advertiser reports that the contract has a value of over $15 million.
