Army Buys Data Center Services from Horizon
(MoneyWatch) The U.S. DoD buys a lot of things. They also sell a lot of things to its members. The military has two networks of stores across the globe, one run by the Army for its and the USAF bases and another by the Navy. Horizon Data Center Solutions was awarded a contract worth over $45 million to provide services to the AAFES which administers the exchanges and commissarys for the Army and Air Force. WHIR News reports on the award. These stores originally provided goods and services to those service people living on the bases, and also overseas provided American type goods. Now of course many in the services live on the economy and shop outside the base, but even now the AAFES generates almost $10 billion in sales. Horizon will provide secure storage for AAFES data especially those related to the actual retail transactions.
