AeroVironment Positioned Well for the Future
(MoneyWatch) AeroVironment Inc announced their Second Quarter results for 2009. As reported at MarketWatch.com the company had an excellent quarter. Revenue grew 22%, or $12.1 M, over 2008 with net earnings and income up over 70%. The company makes advanced Unmanned Aeriel Systems (UAS) and efficient energy systems. The company has strong demand for their UAS from a variety of military companies. There was also strong growth in the energy area as well.
Looking at their two main product lines they are both growth areas in the long term. The US and other nations are going to continue to invest in advanced unmanned systems as they find more-and-more roles for them on the battlefield. Not only are military organizations buying them but there is a host of applications in the areas of security and surveillance for governments and private enterprises. The UAV market will continue to grow. With the continued emphasis on reducing energy use and cost by all entities the efficient energy systems may also have a great deal of growth potential.
