Centers for Disease Control Buys Support
(MoneyWatch) The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) awarded a follow on contract to SRA for continued support in the area of tracking the possession, use and transfer of biological agents and toxins. The Washington Business Journal has the details. SRA will provide laboratory services to the CDC in this area. This is considered a re-award to SRA although the last contract was actually given to the Constella Group. SRA acquired the Constella Group a few years ago and has been able to keep the work it had with the CDC.
When a company acquires another one of the key hopes is to continue the contracts that one has. It is not always possible as some of the contracts may have been set asides for small or disadvantage businesses. This is why you sometimes see the incumbent becoming a sub-contractor to another, smaller company.
