Media Roundup: EMI Launches Retail Site, News Goes Nasdaq, Jobs Snubs MacWorld, and More
(MoneyWatch) EMI launches digital music site -- In addition to selling its songs on iTunes and other digital outlets, EMI has launched an online music store. EMI, the smallest of the major labels, hopes to learn more about the habits of digital music consumers, the company said. [Source: Epicenter]
News Corp. goes to Nasdaq -- Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. announced yesterday that it would be leaving the New York Stock Exchange for the Nasdaq stock market. In return for the move, Nasdaq offered to up its advertising in NewsCorp's media properties such as Fox News and The Wall Street Journal. Nasdaq hinted that it would seek similar arrangements with other media companies. [Source: New York Times]
Consumer Reports to purchase the Consumerist? -- The Consumerist, Gawker Media's consumer watchdog blog, is for sale and Consumer Reports has shown interest. The two sides met Monday, and both indicate "things look good." [Source: MediaBistro]
