Angelina Jolie talks about her famous face

If you Google "Angelina Jolie beautiful" you get 26 million search results. Rather than click through them, Bob Simon just asked her straight out about those famous features during his recent 60 Minutes interview with the actress.

Simon, who usually covers topics like war, revolution, and politics, tells Overtime that he sat down and gave some serious thought to his line of questions about Jolie's famous face while preparing for the interview. He even did a bit of research with female friends. When your face is a million-dollar global brand, it's not just a matter of "do you feel pretty?"

Angelina's thoughts on the nature of beauty, and what she sees in the mirror every day, proved one thing to us: she's much more than just a pretty face.

I enjoyed the interview and realized how Angelina could be upset with her grandfathers funeral and thus wanting to help to change it by becoming a funeral director. Certainly to most people this would seem like a bizarre profession, and up until couple of years ago I would have agreed with the status quo. What changed my mind was when my wife's grandmother passed away two years ago in a hospital in the Ukraine. How her passing was almost straight out of a Mark's Brothers comedy , yet at the same time very very sad. From the hospital she was brought by ambulance and dropped off at the front door, of a five floor apartment building (outside on display to everyone passing by), it was up to the family to place her into a coffin and with out a elevator, carry her up to the fourth floor to an apartment that she shared with my wife's mother and her sister. First we had to find strangers from the street to help us carry grandmother up the stairs on a stretcher. Next came the coffin up the stairs, as the stairwell was to small to allow the coffin to be carried up in a horizontal fashion. Once in the apartment the grandmother was on display for two days and three nights in 38C temperatures in the living room of a two room apartment (my wife's mom was constantly swatting at flies).On the day of the funeral the whole process of removing the grandmother and placing her outside on the ground on a stretcher while the coffin was retrieved was repeated. Afterwards I was disgusted by the lack of dignity that my wife's grandmother received during this time. For me it was a shocking eye opening experience, I grew up in Canada in a whole different way of life and culture. Afterwards I too much like Angelina wanted to do something to help better and dignify a person's passing, I started checking and found out that Ukrainians do not have any choice at all other than having a home funeral. In order to give Ukrainians the dignity in death that is fundamental to most people in the world I am trying to start Ukraine's first funeral home, the only thing holding me back is the lack of financing.; Reply to this comment

I envy the fact that she can travel and learn to appreciate the differnces in cultures. I, like many, are unable to get out of our own heads. We want our own to care for our own first and look to other countries later. I would probably think differenty if I were more worldly. We probably have it pretty good...even at our worse. An aura like Ms. Jolie's is probably only attainable through the cultivation of vibrant and pursued spiritual beauty. Genes and glamour can create a Hollywood icon, but not an Angelina Jolie.

Angelina Jolie is a hero to many of us who have worked, or still do, with UNHCR.

Angelina is dedicated, down-to-earth and an amazing woman. I was in Chad/Darfur just after Angelina had been there. By all accounts, no one would have even known she was not just another humanitarian worker. She slept in the very rough conditions, never let down her smile, and worked along side everyone else trying to bring relief to the refugees. God bless Angelina Jolie for all that she does for refugees around the world.
