Taylor Swift: 7 ways boyfriends make you sad

Most of us want to forget the heartache and struggles of adolescence, but for pop singer Taylor Swift, those memories are the makings of a great song.

On 60 Minutes Overtime, Taylor tells Lesley Stahl the secrets of her song-writing. "I break down emotions into like 50 million categories," Taylor explains, and one big category is sadness, mostly the sadness of love.

"There's the missing-him kind of sadness," Taylor says. "There's the frustrated-and-confused, don't-know-why-it-ended kind of sadness, there's the sadness tinged with anger..." and a few more variations on the ways that a boyfriend can get a girl down.

It's all sad, but true, and her fans love it, as you'll see in Lesley Stahl's 60 Minutes piece, "Taylor Swift," produced by Shari Finkelstein. Since releasing her debut album, she has sold more records than any other artist in any genre. Her album "Speak Now" is her third record to go multi-platinum.

Says Lesley, "She seems to know, even at her young age, just the right notes to hit in her songwriting and her business. Taylor Swift's has been a meteoric rise."

You obviously are not a writer, a creative soul or have ever listened to the arc of one of the most brilliant songwriters to come along ever...and I mean you never ever ever are going to get her, but that's okay. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide do. I am almost sixty-three years old, male, raised in the film/TV/music industries, and haven't seen someone like Taylor ever. You also don't appreciate what being a girl growing into a woman in this world entails, or where one can go emotionally or how her expression her emotions resonates with MILLIONS. Then again, geinus always must create its own genre to the whining and caterwalling of numerous snotty snoids and meanies. Taylor is so far beyond and above you that it takes someone like me to mention it because she'll never have to. Thank God,and thank God for Taylor.

I have attended two Taylor Swift Speak Now Concerts and meet 100's of amazing new Swifty friends over the last few years who have the same values as the Swift Family and myself.

As a very passionate fan, I started a new Facebook Group with a growing number of Taylor Swift fans who absolutely love Taylor because of the positive values Taylor, her band members, dancers and Mr. and Mrs. Swift present and because of her amazing talent to tell a story in song and in actions.

I will be attending CMA Festival 2012 in Nashville for the 1st time and my sole purpose attending is Taylor Swift!

I, like so many, would like to meet her more than anything else in the whole world and I would like to help 13,000 others have the same opportunity. Our group was started in the hope that Taylor will agree to perform and have another 13 hour Meet and CMA Festival 2012 so 13,000 Taylor Swift Fans who will be attending CMA Festival 2012 would have the opportunity to meet her.

Taylor received an amazing book called "Swifties Stories" on Thursday Nov. 17th in North Carolina from an young lady who adores her;this book includes letters from 100's of fans and also my request.

There really is no other way to describe her other than just a mean spirited, miserable person. Her disdain for the right aside, she seemed to belittle, poke fun of, and entrap, poor Taylor Swift. And I'm not a 12 year old swooning fan either...I have an advanced academic degree and work for the Defense Dept. It really is getting to the point where I won't watch her segments anymore. Kudos to the rest of the 60 Minutes staff though, as they are all professionals. Stahl is the bad apple is slowly ruining a great show with a great past.; Reply to this comment
