Keeping up with NFL super agent Drew Rosenhaus

He's the fast-talking, fast-texting man behind the scenes, the NFL super-agent who makes the deals and, he says, keeps the sport alive and thriving. And he does it all at a very fast pace.

His name is Drew Rosenhaus, and as you'll see on Overtime this week, even 60 Minutes producer Nicole Young -- herself a high-energy person capable of texting, talking, and walking at the same time -- struggled to keep up with him. "The man was moving 1,000 miles an hour every second of every day," Nicole says.

Nicole wasn't the only one sprinting to keep up with Rosenhaus as they followed him for months while reporting this week's 60 Minute's segment, "The Player."

Our camera crew -- laden down with all their heavy equipment -- also had to move fast to keep pace with Rosenhaus as he moved around, making deals and courting clients. As you'll see in our Overtime piece, the soundman at one point stumbled while trying to race up an escalator to keep up. Watch carefully to see whether Drew was concerned or even slowed his pace when he heard the crashing sound behind him.

If Rosenhaus's feet move fast, his fingers might move even faster. Even while driving -- as you'll see in Scott Pelley's 60 Minutes profile -- Rosenhaus has at least two phones going at all times, keeping in touch with his more than 100 clients, the team owners, and all the other players in this multi-billion-dollar world.

To see just how attached Rosenhaus is to texting, Overtime producer David Rubin asked Nicole to send Drew a message during our interview. How long do you think it took the top agent in the NFL to get back to her?

by vzsyph1949 September 24, 2012 11:47 AM EDT: Scott's question about whether the tax rate of Romney's tax return was fair shows the "liberal" agenda being applied. I am a CPA and I try to help my client's pay the lowest amount of tax that is legally permitted by the tax code. I doubt that Scott asks himself this question when he gets the results of his taxes each year. Every citizen has the right to pay more taxes if they wish, but most do not voluntarily pay more. Mitt paid his taxes under the tax law that was in place when he paid his taxes. Class warfare and redistribution of wealth are socialist concepts and that I believe our founders rejected. The "free enterprise system" is what has made our country great.; Reply to this comment

Mr. Rosenhaus should be arrested now that he has confessed on camera to texting while driving. Anyone caught doing that should lose their license and go to jail in spite of the cell phone companies' lobbying against stricter punishments. There is absolutely no excuse for texting while driving.
Your life and mine are more important than his business deals!

By the way, I knew a couple of agents in the NFL.

Do NOT for one second hold this guy out to be a good person.

If he absolutely needs to text, email and use his cellphone while driving, please hire a chauffeur, for less than 0.1% of his annual income, so he won't endanger his own life, and more importantly, the lives of his passengers and other innocent people.; Reply to this comment

My aunt was killed by a distracted driver last year. Get a freaken driver you selfish man. Think of all the work you can get done if you don't have to drive. Unbelievable! Very let down by 60 minutes for not asking him why he doesn't let someone else drive. Ok police dept...give him some tickets!!!!

by YolandaHouston November 3, 2012 5:05 PM EDT: I agree. It is bad enough that this cheap jerk is so willing to risk lives for a what he makes in an hour, but then for CBS to not make a big issue about it is just lame on their part.

I think the NFL should also take some action since they also benefit from his services. Are they willing to have their players represented by a man that does NOT care about the lives of others, or is just too stupid to know of the dangers.
