It's not often that legendary musicians and artists allow cameras into their studios to document the creative process in real time. But U2's Bono and The Edge surprised us when they agreed to let "60 Minutes" correspondent Lesley Stahl and her producer Andrew Metz observe a music workshop during their preparation for opening night of the Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark."

by samsuiza December 1, 2010 4:27 AM EST: I hope they release a soundtrack soon. Reeve Carney and Carney are awesome!! I hope it does make it to other cities but considering the NYC cost, I highly doubt it unless it really does big bucks there. Maybe I'll make it out to NYC to see it. The songs sound like some of the best stuff Bono and the Edge have done in a long time in my opinion.

The 60 minutes "piece" wasn't that interesting. I'd like to hear from the main cast and hear Reeve Carney sing a few songs from the show.; Reply to this comment


by nicacook November 30, 2010 4:41 PM EST: I was very surprised at the piece Leslie Stahl did on last weeks show. Seems to me it was either a really long commercial for the SpiderMan show, or mistakenly an Entertainment Tonight, piece. I think it was longer that the piece on training Afgani police, which I think is actually newsworthy.

I remember when 60 Minutes was the best, most informative and hard hitting news program on TV. What happended?

I MET THE MAN WHO RUTH HIT THE HOMERUN FOR. HIS NAME WAS GEORGE NASER OF DEDHAM, MASS. HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE FAMOUS HOMERUN. WHEN GEORGE WAS IN A BOSTON HOSPITAL WHEN HE WAS 12 YEARS OLD BABE RUTH VISITED HIM AND MADE A PROMISE TO HIT HIM A HOMERUN.

by mathhugh November 28, 2010 9:19 PM EST: i hope someone of influence is listening -- with this evidence that pre-production work is filmed, along with other elements of the show, if not the show itself- why is this material not made available for public consumption? DVD/Blu-ray extras have only added interest in movies and movie making. A show could make millions with a soundtrack + dvd behind the scenes. You've got hours of development and design. original cast V. bono/the edge recordings, interviews, dress rehearsal clips. This would be such an educational tool as well as invitation to see the finished product.

Across the universe is visually stunning, and this is going to be no different, with the exception of some really great music.

by Dream_Out_Loud November 29, 2010 11:22 AM EST: I agree with you that Mercy is a killer song. Did you ever hear the original lyrics ("ripping the stitches...") from the earlier version? I love the song but I wish they'd sing all the lyrics.

Whatever the name of the song from the last minute of the above video is, I really hope it gets played somewhere live (and released). that song was fantastic.
