Disguised Jeff Gordon test drives car with a salesman

(CBS News) While it might like a perfect fit for you and the price may be right, everyone needs a test drive before they purchase a new car. But what happens when that test drive is being done by NASCAR superstar Jeff Gordon in disguise? The ride of one salesman's life, that's what.

"You are liable for any damages, sir, so please stop the car!" Priceless. The hilarious, thrill ride was posted by Pepsi who write about the hidden-camera prank:

Jeff Gordon and Pepsi MAX go to a car dealership where a disguised Jeff Gordon takes an unsuspecting car salesman on the test drive of his life.

Sure, it's a marketing gimmick, but it's the kind I can get behind. I mean, did you see the look on that poor salesman's face? I honestly felt bad for him, but was still laughing hard. How about all of you? As always, feel free to leave me some comment love below with your thoughts.

UPDATE: Well, I mentioned it was a marketing gimmick, and like so many good ones, it turns out that this one sadly isn't real. The video was produced by Funny or Die's company Gifted You, and the terrified salesman is in fact an actor. So is it still funny? Sure. But is it real? Nope.

by ibjackiej March 18, 2013 6:15 PM EDT: It was a great commercial, much as the Clydesdales are. Most people know who Jeff Gordon is. It would have been great as a "prank" on one of those type shows. I laughed so hard it hurt. A commercial which is a winner in my books!! I would watch these commercials and feel very entertained as a product was being featured. A Pepsi Commercial, the camera in the can. So cool. Great placement to film the passengers reaction. I suppose it could have led to a real life heart attack with a real life unsuspecting salesman. He was a good actor. It was a very good commercial. I don't understand why there is conflict?; Reply to this comment

Yes good video but 100% fake. The sales person was an actor and Gordon wasn't driving.

Brad Noffsinger who works for the Richard Petty Driving Experience did the stunt driving for the video. Also to note... the Camaro in the lot had a '09 sticker on the windshield. Those didn't come out until 2010.

This video- phony or not, is amazing.

I've never seen anything quite like this.

It's hard to imagine that the salesman didn't suspect a prank, given that it is required for an operator about to do a test drive to show positive identification.

How did Gordon pull that one off? I mean, how do you fake that part of this whole thing and not actually be committing a crime, or otherwise raise the suspicion of the dealership?

Does he have a dl under the name "Mike" (somebody)?

If truly the salesman is an actor and not really an unwitting car salesman, he did a damn good job. I wouldn't go so far as to say that he did a "better" job in his role, than Gordon did of driving that car, though.

Wet roads, a narrow warehouse dock, burnouts, passing another vehicle as he did. All the twists and turns. This was just incredible, really.

In reality, it was probably just another 'day at the office' for superstar race car driver Jeff Gordon. He made it all look as easy as riding a bicycle.

He's always been a huge Chevrolet fan at heart I can imagine, and I'd be certain this was in no way his first FAST time behind the wheel of a performance car like the Camaro, off the race track. He might even own one or more of them, himself. All in all, this is the kind of thing one rarely gets to see, if for no other reason because it was so REAL! And it was not on any kind of "race day", either.; Reply to this comment
