This 12-year-old singer will amaze you with her level of talent

(CBS News) When I was 12-years-old, I think my greatest achievements at the time were along the lines of making some three-point shots in basketball and managing to not get struck out in baseball (I was terrible at baseball if you didn't happen to catch my drift). I know, I know, I set the bar really high for myself back then. But, in all seriousness, the bar for just about anyone was nowhere near the level of the young girl in the above video who will amaze you with her level of talent at such a young age. Go ahead and take a look and listen.

The incredible 12-year-old singer is one Billie Tweddle with an original song entitled "Headlights". The song was performed for Ont' Sofa, who does a series of music sessions with talented musicians. And there is no question in this blogger's mind that Billie Tweddle is definitely one very talented musician and probably going to be getting a lot of attention in the near future. by noracat September 22, 2012 7:27 PM EDT: She may be young, but her soul is old and you can feel that in her music. I can't see her doing rap, hip-hop or rock-n-roll. Her music is exactly what I would be listening to when I needed to relax and chill. Every genre of music has something to offer. It's one thing to have such a beautiful voice. That she also composes is simply amazing! I love her and can't wait to see what she does next.; Reply to this comment

This old grandmother has listened to it 5 times as I love the words...they have a true meaning for me...Like other's comments..she and her parents need to make sure she follows the true path of being a good human being. At my age I can count all the sorrows and especially my sorrow of young men and women going into battle in Iraq and Afghanastan and then coming home maimed or dead. A singer who actually has talent and can write and sing without resorting to autotune, or having to wear outragious clothes, wigs, make-up, etc. to get attention. She'll grow up and find that, like Hanson, Kris Kross, and others, there is no future without having a proper education, as entertainment is a very fleeting, short-term, and harsh venue to try to make a living in...

Making it to the levels themselves can be extremely lucrative, and carry one throughout life.

I guarantee you that the folks you mentioned are set for life, if there finances have been managed correctly. I know several folks in that exact position personally.

The artists you named were fleeting because they grew up and lost their cuteness to the girls in the world. This girl has a possible very long future in the business not only as a singer, but as a writer. Look at the Bee Gees, not only did they have a ton of hits of their own, they wrote many more for other singers that made it big. I think she's awesome, and has a real future as a truly gifted musician.


by oskaloosa September 23, 2012 4:52 AM EDT: Although music/entertainment may indeed be a difficult business to succeed in, this girl has much more propelling her toward long-term success than boy bands and girls who rely on auto-tune, looks and costumes. She is TALENTED. Wow. Just wow. I can't believe she's only 12. She plays an instrument, writes her own music (very well), and has a distinctive and beautiful voice. And her lyrics show depth that you'd only expect from someone much older. I'd buy her music tomorrow.
