Worlds collide as "Call Me Maybe" and "Somebody That I Used To Know" get a music mashup
(CBS News) So I'm a bit conflicted at this point in time, dear readers. The amount of covers, spoofs and parodies that have been made of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" and Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" are simply staggering. And I keep telling myself that I won't post anymore up and then something new comes along that forces my hand (check out yesterday's Star Wars remix of "Call Me Maybe" as an excellent example). This is another one of those cases. Check out the two hit songs combined into a fascinating mashup in the above music video.
While I'm a bit mixed about the video, the blend of these two songs really comes out... well, pretty awesome, in this blogger's humble opinion. The music mashup entitled "Do Not Push" was done by the band Pomplamoose, who write about the interesting mix:
I've got to hand it to them, as many times as I've heard and seen variations of these two songs, they have done something very original and cool that has just earned them a triple-rainbow salute of excellence from us here at The Feed. To check out more music from Pomplamoose, you can visit their YouTube page by clicking here. For the chorus, we used the famous chord hits of Call Me Maybe but superimposed the melody and lyrics from Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know. For the verses, we used Gotye's chords and Call Me Maybe's lyrics.
