(CBS) - The passing of British artist Amy Winehouse at age 27 makes her the latest member of the 27 club. Several iconic artists in history have died at 27. Winehouse joins Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison among others. The club was a trending topic on Twitter shortly after news of her death hit.

Meanwhile, Fabio seems to be back from the dead and taking over as Old Spice spokesman. For this and more news from the weekend, check out the video.

Amy Winehouse, while no doubt talented, does not rise to the level of the others. Hendrix, Morrison, and Joplin were icons of an entire generation. The fact they died almost 40 years ago and we are talking about them still speaks to their status. Cobain, while killing himself on purpose rather than by accident still was in the vanguard of a movement that still thrives today. Despite what the media is attempting to do, Amy Winehouse is neither of these. She will be a footnote in music history. Anybody remember Graham Parsons? Overdosed on morphine and alchol at age 26 in 1973. He was at least as talented as Miss Winehouse and probably more so. His influence is felt throughout rock music to this day. Forgotten by most. I am afraid this is Amy's fate.

Wow. I am amazed that there is a club who's only membership requirement is to waste your God-given talents by filling your mind and body with drugs until you cease to live. I am certainly glad that no one I know is striving to join this exclusive membership. What a waste.
