Condom law takes effect for Los Angeles porn actors

(AP) Porn actors are now required to wear condoms on set in Los Angeles, according to a new law.

The law took effect Monday, Mar. 5, after Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa signed an ordinance in January requiring that actors in adult movies in the city must use condoms in order for producers to get a filming permit.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has also lobbied for the regulation for years, saying it's essential to protect adult film actors from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The group is collecting signatures for a November ballot measure that would require condoms on sets countywide.

But industry leaders say the new regulation might just take the porn actors elsewhere, although Los Angeles is currently the nation's porn capital. They estimate that as many as 90 percent of U.S. porn films are made in Los Angeles, most of them in the suburban San Fernando Valley.

They should just "BAN" porn everywhere in the world. What a dirty way to make a living and putting this filth on the internet so anyone can see it!

ur just afraid of sex. they are making a living doing what u do at home. so if its dirty on the internet then its dirty in your house. So why do u engage in that type of dirt? Sex is sex no matter where you do it. Its no more dirty working than at home. Same fluids, same acts same thing!

I have no interest in seeing condoms in porn. I wonder how much money Los Angeles will lose? Another stupid "Big Brother" move by "authorities."
