(CBS) When it comes to plastic surgery for movie stars, Kate Winslet says she's all for cutting it out.

"It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me to and what I consider to be natural beauty, the stunning Oscar-winning actress told the Telegraph. "I will never give in."

And Winslet isn't the only British beauty to give a big thumbs-down to cosmetic surgery and Hollywood's relentless quest for youth.

Rachel Weisz, 41, said that "people who look too perfect don't look sexy or particularly beautiful," the paper reported. And Emma Thompson, 52, said, "I'm not fiddling about with myself. We're in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60."

The three actresses have joined forces to create what they're calling the "British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League," the Independent reported. If its goal is to banish Botox as well as cosmetic surgery, the league certainly has its work cut out for it.

In 2010, there were more than 2.4 million procedures in which Botox or the related drug Dysport were injected, according to statistics compiled by the American Society for Aesthetic Surgery. That's down a bit from the 2.6 million such procedures done in 2009 - but way up from the 65,000 such procedures performed in 1997, when the society started gathering statistics.

Overall since 1997, the number of surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures is up more than 155 percent, according to the society.

What do you think? Is cosmetic surgery a bad idea - even if you don't look like Kate Winslet?

The action of these open, beautiful, and inspiring British actresses is inspiring and full of integrity. I have suffered for 8 years with a choking sensation in my throat after a face and necklift. The surgeon did two corrective surgeries that only made the throat tighter. And my neck looks like a crone's neck. I am the exception, but there are huge health risks in cosmetic surgery that the doctors don't talk about. They're printed in tiny print on the many papers you sign before the surgery, giving away your rights to take legal action.

Good for Kate Winslet to draw the line. Not that there was ever anything wrong with her looks, she was S-M-O-K-I-N-G when she did 'Titanic' as she is now. The ladies need to stop kowtowing to the whims of queer little fashionistas and celebrity gossip writers with no real taste for women and Liberace shrines in their bedrooms.

Wait until these women are in their 60s and see what they have to say then. Young women who are against plastic surgery haven't experienced many of the effects of aging yet.

I think it's gotten way out of control. You have young people having plastic surgery and Botox, and that's because they are made to feel like they aren't good enough. They have to be perfect.

You can tell when someone has had plastic surgery and Botox. It doesn't make them look better. And there's nothing worse than seeing women with their lips pumped up. I could understand, MAYBE, if they had really thin lips and they got them pumped up just a little, but usually it's to an extreme. Most of the women that I have seen that have done it, there was nothing wrong with their lips before. Cher and Priscilla Presley look hideous now. It has completely ruined their looks.

Nope, when my face starts to wrinkle and sag.....oh well. : )

Demi Moore -- basket case that she is, apparently (Ally Sheedy?) -- still looks great at, what, 50 or so. As with everything, your mileage may vary.

If there's anything Kate Winslet needs to cut out, it's FOOD. Not saying go the full Karen Carpenter, but sheesh, it kind of makes you wonder if she made the damn boat sink by climbing up on top. (There's a Fatty Arbuckle joke in there somewhere.)

Sounds to me like sour grapes from the pre-grandma bunch. Probably these old bags are trying to fill a dying spot in the papers by taking up some B.S. charity cause because they're not working anymore.

Kate'll probably end up in a documentary about herself -- or a workout video? -- called "Thigh-Tanic." Btw, isn't she the one who played that horse-fxcking spinster Temple Grandin in the god-awful HBO flick?
