Cerebral aneurysm triggers include eight everyday activities (PICTURES)
Cerebral aneurysms can be deadly if they rupture
/ CBS(CBS) Can blowing your nose be deadly? It can if you have an aneurysm in your brain, a.k.a. a cerebral aneurysm. And nose-blowing is just one of eight everyday activities that can trigger a cerebral aneurysm to burst, according to new research published in the May 5 issue of the journal Stroke.

Just what is an aneurysm? It's a weakened portion of a blood vessel. Aneurysms can occur in various places throughout the body, but cerebral aneurysms are especially dangerous. If they burst and bleed - an event known as a subarachnoid hemorrhage - they can be deadly.
How deadly? The Brain Aneurysm Foundation estimates that of 40 percent of the 27,000 Americans who suffer a ruptured cerebral aneurysm die outright. Most of those who survive are left with permanent brain damage.
That's scary stuff, especially if you have an aneurysm or a family history aneurysm - or if you're experiencing pain behind the eye or other symptoms of cerebral aneurysm. But for the general population, experts say there's little reason to worry.
Even if you blow your nose.

- I personally found the article QUITE informative as I have an aneurysm that has been being watched for years now. I just got the results from my MRA & it's gone from 2mm to 5mm & I'm being referred by my neurologist to a neurosurgeon. I enjoy having the "HEALTH" section. And YES, more pics please. =)

- WOW! I really didn't expect a major player in the news biz to be as ****** as CBS is; you post a news alert about cerebral aneurysms and their causes, AND THEN YOU DON'T ENUMERATE THOSE CAUSES. Even the pics only 'insinuate' some of those possible causes. Wow! Let me ask: have you heard yet, for example, that bin Laden is dead? Let's see how you give out THAT news. You'll probably just publish the rest of the pics on aneurysms...
