Zsa Zsa Gabor's Husband Glues Eye Shut: What Would You Do?

(CBS) Glued your eyelid shut? That's gotta hurt.
Just ask Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, who was rushed to the hospital in Bel Air, Calif. after mistaking a bottle of glue for eyedrops on Tuesday.
"It was dark and he grabbed his wife's nail glue instead of eyedrops," the family's publicist, John Blanchette, told CNN.
"You would be amazed at how many times this happens," Dr. Michael Kutryb, an ophthalmologist in Titusville, Fl., tells CBS News.
"It's extremely irritating, but the good news is that it is probably not going to cause any permanent eye damage. It's highly under-reported but very common. I'm sure all ophthalmologists have seen two or three cases a year."
If you find yourself in this sticky situation, flush your eye with water and go to the ER, Kurtyb recommends. Then prepare yourself for a "week of misery." You might experience blurred vision, and the hardened glue will likely form an "artificial scab" over the eyelid and lashes.
It will take the application of lubricating ointments, and time, to loosen the glue.
"I predict [Von Anhalt] is going to make a 100% recovery, barring infection," says Kutryb.
Still, it can't be fun. The 68-year-old Von Anhalt went home the same day after being seen by a specialist, but he now has to wear an eye patch for two weeks.
"It was stupid," Von Anhalt told CNN.
