Charice Gets Botox: Is 18-Year-Old "Glee" Star Too Young for Antiaging Treatments?

(CBS/AP) Botox for babies?

Not quite, but 18-year-old singer Charice says she prepared for her debut on the hit Fox TV show "Glee" by getting Botox injections and an anti-aging procedure "to look fresh on camera."

The Filipino singer with a booming voice saw her career skyrocket after appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' and Oprah Winfrey's talk shows.

She underwent the injections and the procedure to make her "naturally round face" more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo told ABS-CBN television.

But Charice's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said in an e-mail that the Botox was "absolutely not cosmetic," adding that the treatment was to relieve jaw pain.

Belo did the Botox procedure in front of the cameras.

"You chew gum and it turns out to be a favorite super-exercise for these muscles, your chewing muscles. So we will show you, this muscle here it's a bit protruding," Belo said as she touched Charice's face. "It's like a ball, so we are going to Botox that in order to get it flat so she will have a cuter face ... we want to give you the apple cheek look because it's cute, right?"

Charice, in the same interview, said her face makeover was part of her big preparations for her appearance on the hit show's second season. She starts filming at the end of this month.

"All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure," Charice said. Berry is portrayed by Lea Michele, who is 23.

Dr. Malcolm Roth, president of New York's Society of Plastic Surgeons and director of plastic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, said he wasn't sure how someone so young could benefit from Botox.

"You would think that the makeup people could take care of (any wrinkles she might have) or that they could take care of it in post-production," he said.

But Roth said there might be some benefits for on-camera teens in Hollywood. "Some people do have hyperactive muscles and muscles are what create the wrinkles in certain types of expressions. ... It may be of some benefit for the camera, but I would be reticent to consider Botox for a normal 18-year-old."

Vicky Belo, the sham of a dermatologist, convinced her to get Botox treatment from her for international publicity; and in the Philippines, you can't say "no" that easily especially Vicky Belo was there during her baptism.

As a person of Chinese descent who also has a naturally round face, I'm just so DISGUSTED by this.

OH PLEASE. Save the baby talk..."because it's cute"?? The face of beauty is becoming more and more specific -- it's becoming the face of the Anglo-European.

Keep worrying about how round faces aren't in, instead of how overpopulation of China has polluted the air more than modern technology. Sorry kid, Botox don't cure ugly. On the subject of "anti-aging" treatments: it would seem to me that the best time to start anti-aging is as young as possible, no?

OK first of all she is not a star on "Glee." She is only guest starring. Also, she did get Botox recently, their was a video of her getting it done online, plus both she and her publicist or agent said she had Botox done, right before she left for LA.

@maddisonnxy The video of her online getting it done is one and the same that they mentioned she got before going to L.A. She only had it once and that's the time you saw on the video. We know this, because her whole activities or schedule of where she's performing is all over the web, okay! The day after that Botox incident in Manila she flew to Japan and had radio interviews and a mini-concert there. Then after that, she flew to Thailand and had radio appearances, interviews and a mini-concert at the mall. Then she was supposed to fly for Malaysia for a concert and appearances there too. But it got canceled, because she had to fly back to L.A. for a recording (don't know it's for Glee). And of course, her rehearsals and shooting for Glee starts. Pictures, videos and dates of appearances are all over the web and fans and forums are updated in following her everywhere she's at. If you don't believe me, just research - it's all over the net.
Another thing, her role on Glee is just not guest starring. But specifically, a recurring role! Meaning she'll be appearing multiple times on the show...

She looks the same to me, nothing's changed. And she was laughing, belting it out and more on that event in the pictures. Don't you think she wouldn't be able to do that, if she had so much botox injected into her? Or maybe she did receive Botox for that reason that her rep said? And in a finite amount. We know that a lot more celebs in Hollywood are actually having more stuff really done to them. Does the name Heidi Montag ring a bell?
