WASHINGTON (CBS/AP) Parents are scrambling to make sure their children are safe as the government is has issued a recall for 2 million cribs that could be dangerous.

The companies involved in the recall are Evenflo, Delta Enterprises Corp., Child Craft, Jardine Enterprises, LaJobi, Million Dollar Baby and Simmons Juvenile Products Inc.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said most of the recalled cribs have a drop-side, in which the side rail moves up and down to make lifting a child easier. That part can malfunction, leaving a gap where babies' heads can become trapped, which can lead to suffocation or strangulation. Two of the recalled models did not have this feature.

We have a Delta Canton crib in cherry wood. it is not a drop side and is not on the recall list but we feel it should be our son gets his legs caught in the side bars. We filed a complaint with the manufacturer who told us they were with in the federal guidelines and would do nothing. The we turned to the BBB and with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The CPSC sent us a thank you letter that also explained that they were very busy and they might be in contact.I feel that the Government needs to look at the guidelines on crib safety. These companies have had far to many crib recalls due to infants losing their lives or being injured from their products.
