But just a moment on the safety side of backpacks: Has your child been carrying too much to and from school?

Backpack weight can be a real concern. In 2008 alone, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported there were 12,309 book bag injuries that sent kids to doctors' offices, hospitals and emergency rooms.
