In an interview with the UK edition of Harper's Bazaar, the new mom and wife of New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady, called for a worldwide law requiring mothers to breastfeed their babies for the first six months of life.
The magazine quotes her as saying, "Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?"
Her comments set off a firestorm of criticism from parents who held opposing beliefs and accused her of insensitivity.
She used her blog this week top respond to critics and clarify her comments.
"I understand that everyone has their own experience and opinions and I am not here to judge," she wrote. "I believe that bringing a life into this world is the single most important thing a person can undertake and it can also be the most challenging. I think as mothers we are all just trying our best."

Specifically, I would like to comment on your post "my husband is an equal partner in this family and can get up and feed our"...there is more to being equal partners than feeding a baby with a bottle. I encourage dads to bathe, play with their children, help mom, cook meals, clean, go to work, balance the checkbook etc...At night fathers can "participate" by getting the baby, changing the diaper and bringing the baby to mom in bed so she can nurse lying down. This can be a win win for all-no one has to go to the kitchen, mix formula, heat bottles etc..
Lastly, most women are capable of BF if they desire to. There are a small percent of women that cannot due to anatomical or medical issues. There can definitely be challenges (flat or inverted nipples, oral motor or anatomy issues to name a few), but many can and do overcome problems with help from health care professionals & Lactation Consultants and there is plenty of free help available-think LLL and WIC etc.
I applaud the many millions of mothers who work and pump. Thanks to Obama's new healthcare bill that was passed this past March, BF mothers now have legislation that help support them at work. Employers who have at least 50 employees are now required to give BF moms reasonable break time to pump their breasts during the work day. I encourage moms and dads to be proactive, and educate themselves about feeding practices.
I don't care what diapers you buy, how safe your stroller is or how natural your food is, I don't care if you breast feed."
I think it's safe to say you don't care about much do you?
The stereotypical formula feeder!!!!! Way to make yourself sound like an ass. And the benefits ARE NOT MINISCULE. If you gave a crap, you might look it up and find out for yourself. And let me ask you something else. Is it better to eat Whole foods or processed foods? Hmmm..that's probably a tough one for you to answer isn't it? 9 times out of ten, nature knows best and doctors agree that breastfeeding is best. Look it up! But do it AFTER you take your prozac.
